Denver to Steamboat Springs Transportation & Private Car Service
All Ride Limousine provides private transportation from Denver and Denver International Airport to Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley. Steamboat is the one major Colorado resort that is not on I-70, which makes the drive different from every other mountain transfer, and it is a route we have been driving since 2007.
Denver to Steamboat Springs: Distance, Time and Route
| Route | Distance | Typical drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Denver International Airport (DIA) to Steamboat | ~180 miles | 3.25 to 3.75 hours |
| Downtown Denver to Steamboat | ~160 miles | 3 to 3.5 hours |
| Yampa Valley Airport (HDN) to Steamboat | ~25 miles | 30 to 35 minutes |
| Steamboat town to the ski base | ~3 miles | 10 minutes |
The route runs west on I-70 to Silverthorne, then north on Highway 9 to Kremmling, then west on US-40 over Rabbit Ears Pass and down into the Yampa Valley. Some drivers take US-40 the whole way over Berthoud Pass. Which is better depends entirely on conditions on the day, and that judgement is the part you are paying for.
Rabbit Ears Pass: the final climb into Steamboat tops out at 9,426 feet and gets serious snow. It is one of the highest-snowfall passes in Colorado. It rarely closes, but it demands 4WD, winter tires and a driver who has done it before. Colorado's Traction Law applies here through the winter and our fleet meets it.

Direct from DIA or Yampa Valley. Flat rate quoted before you book. Call (720) 277-1843 Book OnlineFly to Hayden or Drive from Denver?
Steamboat is the one Colorado resort where this is a genuine question, because Yampa Valley Regional Airport takes direct seasonal flights from a number of major cities.
| Fly into Hayden (HDN) | Drive from DIA | |
|---|---|---|
| Ground time | 30 minutes from HDN | 3.25 to 3.75 hours |
| Flight availability | Seasonal, limited routes | DIA flies everywhere, year-round |
| Weather risk | Diversions in poor visibility | Roads stay open, we adjust |
| Ski gear | Baggage fees and size limits | Included, no limits |
| Groups of 4+ | Four fares plus bags | One vehicle, one flat rate |
If you can get a direct flight into Hayden in season, take it and we will meet you there. If not, or if you are travelling outside the season, the drive from Denver is reliable and we handle the whole thing.
Why People Choose Steamboat Over the I-70 Resorts
No I-70 weekend traffic. The Sunday afternoon crawl back from Summit County is a Colorado institution nobody enjoys. Steamboat sits on a different corridor entirely.
It is a real town. Steamboat has a working ranching history and a downtown that existed long before the ski area. Lincoln Avenue is not a purpose-built village.
The hot springs. Old Town Hot Springs in the middle of town and Strawberry Park a few miles out. We run evening transfers to both, which means nobody has to drive back down a dirt road in the dark.
The snow. Steamboat's powder has a reputation for a reason, and the tree skiing is some of the best in the state.
Our Steamboat Fleet
Our fleet is chosen for exactly this kind of drive, from I-70 to Rabbit Ears Pass in heavy snow.
Luxury SUVs: Late-model Chevrolet Suburbans and Cadillac Escalades. 4WD, seating up to 6 passengers with dedicated space for skis, boards and heavy winter luggage.
14-Passenger Ford Transit: Luxury interior for groups of up to 14, ideal for family trips and corporate retreats.
Built for the Pass: Winter-rated tires and All-Wheel Drive across the fleet. On a route with a 9,426 foot pass and some of the heaviest snowfall in Colorado, this is not optional.
Why Choose All Ride Limousine for Steamboat?
We Know the Route Options: Silverthorne and Kremmling, or Berthoud Pass on US-40. Which is faster changes with conditions and we make the call on the day.
Two Decades of Winter Driving: Rabbit Ears Pass in a storm is not a drive to learn on. Our chauffeurs have done it for years.
We Track Your Flight: Landing at DIA or Hayden, we monitor your arrival and adjust automatically.
Fixed Flat Rates: Quoted and agreed before booking. No surge pricing, no hidden fees, no fare that climbs because the pass is snowing.
One Driver, Whole Trip: The same chauffeur the entire way. No handovers, no depot stops.

Steamboat Transportation FAQs
How far is Steamboat Springs from Denver? About 180 miles from DIA, typically 3.25 to 3.75 hours. Steamboat is not on I-70, so the route runs north through Kremmling and over Rabbit Ears Pass.
Is Rabbit Ears Pass dangerous in winter? It gets heavy snow and tops out at 9,426 feet, but it rarely closes. It needs 4WD, winter tires and a driver who knows it. All of our vehicles meet Colorado's Traction Law requirements.
Should I fly into Hayden or Denver? Yampa Valley Airport is only 25 miles from Steamboat, about 30 minutes. If you can get a direct seasonal flight there, take it. Outside the season or without a direct route, the drive from DIA is reliable.
Is there room for ski gear? Yes. Our SUVs and Transit vans are chosen for cargo capacity and take multiple ski bags and luggage sets without anyone riding with a bag on their lap.
Can you take us to the hot springs? Yes. We run transfers to Old Town Hot Springs and Strawberry Park, including wait and return so nobody drives back in the dark.
Do you serve the wider Yampa Valley? Yes, including Hayden, Oak Creek and the ski base area as well as Steamboat town.
How far in advance should I book? Book early for peak ski weeks and holidays. Outside those, 48 hours is usually enough. Call for same-day availability.

Our group of 6 used all ride limousines for an Eric Church concert at Red Rocks. It was hands down the most convenient way to attend a concert. We were picked up at our hotel and had plenty of time to tailgate prior to the show. When it was over we were picked up at the designated meeting area and driven back to our hotel in Cherry Creek. Highly recommend if you are looking for a stress free Red Rocks experience!! Will definitely use again.
